MODERN
DAY BURLESQUE
The
revival of interest in burlesque has taken off in the last year
or two, but its origins go back much further. This section of
Striporama will chart the revival from the retro
erotica nostalgia boom of the late 1980's, through performances
at Torture Garden and the Smutfest, the alt. culture sexuality
of Suicide Girls and the current boom in old school burlesque
performance as a reaction against the sterile pole dancing scene.
If
you have worked in the burlesque or retro-glamour scene, or
have memories of seminal events which you feel have shaped the
surrent revival, we'd love to hear from you.
We
also hope to offer reviews, interviews and news from the modern
burlesque scene in this section. As ever, help from the movers
and shakers would be gratefully received.
