The
Erotika expo in Budapest opens today and runs
through the weekend.
This year, one of the biggest draws for visitors
will be the attempt on Friday at 4pm to set
a Guinness record for a strip-tease marathon.
"Judy Nero and Linda Racz will be
stripping for four whole hours, taking turns
to do 30 minute sets," said organiser
Nandor Strausz.
"Currently there is no record for the
longest striptease performance, so we will
be the first to claim this," Judy
Nero told The Budapest Times. "Since
this is the tenth exhibition, we thought we
would add something to the jubilee atmosphere.
Some people have criticised us, but I donØt
know why this would hurt anyone. Everybody
would like to have a Guinness record, and
my field is erotica," she continued,
sadly unaware that the prudes who run the
Guiness Book of Records will almost
certainly not chose to acknowledge the result.
American porn actress Brittney Skye (pictured)
will also perform on stage all three evenings,
there will also be a ™Porno TheatreÓ courtesy
of Hungarian actress and director Deborah
Valentine and Chippendale strip shows and
transvestite acts are also on the programme.

Endearingly
eccentric ex-stripper, Playboy Playmate
and Reality TV star Anna Nicole Smith is to
have her long legal battle over her husband's
estate heard next year by The Supreme Court.
Smith has been fighting for her $474 million
inheritance with the family of oil tycoon
J. Howard Marshall II, who she married when
he was 89 and she was 26.
Smith, who was quite sexy before she could
afford to fill her fridge and went a bit barmy,
is seen by most as the Queen of the Gold-diggers.
But frankly, if she had to have sex with Marshall
just once, she's surely earned her money.
And the entertainment her drunken, whacked
out antics have given the world since are
also worth every penny. We wish her luck...

Pathetic pastors in the bahamas have demanded
a government crack down on facilities that
promote stripping.
Pastor Cedric Moss of Kingdom Life World Outreach
Centre said a ruling handed down by Magistrate
Renee McKay in favour of Russian dancers reveals
serious weaknesses in the law.
On September 21, six Russian dancers, their
manager and six staff members of the Butterfly
Club, appeared on charges ranging from indecent
behaviour to abetting indecent behavior. The
magistrate ruled that the prosecution did
not prove a case against them and acquitted
them all.
The pastors suggested that the court proceedings
were unfair because the dancers were represented
by a prominent attorney, Wayne Munroe, and
the prosecution was represented by a police
officer who does not necessarily have any
legal training. So, because the cops are a
bit thick, the defendants shouldn't be allowed
competent lawyers? The mind boggles...
Moss ranted "These police officers are
pitted against professional lawyers who clearly
have an unfair advantage because of their
years of legal training. Therefore, in the
interest of justice and fair play, we will
be calling on the attorney general and The
Bahamas Bar Council to work together to discontinue
this practice."
The group of five pastors expressed concerns
over the proliferation of clubs, events and
activities that are built around commercial
sexual entertainment. Pastor Moss said - without
any evidence to back up his claims - that
these types of activities lead to prostitution
and further the degradation and exploitation
of women and young girls, while encouraging
violence and abuse towards them.
The pastors continued "We are convinced
that in spite of the degree to which our national
moral standards have fallen, the majority
in our country are morally minded people who
do not support the further pollution of our
nationØs moral water table by operations and
activities like those of the Butterfly Club.
We believe that it is incumbent upon the government
and all decent minded, law abiding citizens
in all spheres of society to actively do all
they can to resist the efforts of a few persons
who are driven by financial greed, who lack
a moral compass and any regard for the dignity
of women and sexuality to continue to further
erode the moral fabric of our nation."
We suggest that any decent minded citizens
instead resist the efforts of a small numbet
of religious zealots to enforce their narrow
moral viewpoint on others.

As

We've bashed religious types here on
Striporama with regularity, but here's
a story about a vicar who offers hope for
Christianity.
Reverend Kenny Macaulay is under investigation
by po-faced leaders of the Scottish Episcopal
Church after a tabloid revealed that he's
been buying bondage equipment and adult videos
on eBay.
A church spokesman said: "The Bishop of
Glasgow and Galloway is presently on holiday
but he will be fully briefed on his return
and it will be for him to decide what action
to take from there. Any allegations are taken
seriously and will be looked into."
It should be pointed out to the church leaders
that Macauley hasn't broken any laws with
his purchase of a wall-mounted bondage cross,
a bondage table and "an explicit amateur
porn video which features 50 couples having
sex."
A refreshingly unrepentant Macaulay told the
Daily Record: "I have bought fetish
items from the internet - a few novelty goods.
I have the bondage table in my garden actually,
it's a bit of fun. I'm not sure about the
porn video. My girlfriend Linda might have
bought that one."
He added: "I think I have raised a few
eyebrows in this town. People don't like the
fact that I'm getting married again when I'm
divorced - and so is Linda. But we're a modern
couple and we just enjoy a laugh."

A
T-shirt boasting about Oregon strip clubs
has become a best seller for a major retailer.
The $18 T-shirt features the slogan "Come
for the fishing. Stay for the strip clubs"
and has become the most sought among 50 state-themed
shirts sold by Hot Topic.
Oregon has 93 strip clubs ß second only to
West Virginia's 53 clubs. Todd Davidson, chief
executive for the state's tourism board commented
"it starts by encouraging people to come for
the fishing, and that's year-round. I guess
the other thing isn't seasonal either.''

A court in southwestern Sichuan province,
China this week sentenced a hotel manager
and four accomplices to jail terms of eight
months to 12 years for providing prostitutes
next to the Martyrs' Mausoleum. The hotel
manager organised sexual services and striptease
performances.
China has declared 2005 the year of Red Tourism,
promoting travels to sites where Communist
heroes were born, lived or fought. The mausoleum
stands as tribute to 64 people who died for
the revolutionary cause since 1911, when China's
last imperial dynasty, the Qing, was overthrown.

Nurses, beer and video cameras - a deadly
combination? Well, it seems so.
A nurse and two cameramen were arrested last
week at the MunichOktoberfest for shooting
a porn film on the city's famous big wheel.
The unnamed 21-year-old registered nurse and
her two associates were spotted 'filming sexual
acts' by three Italian tourists in another
carriage of the ride. The humourless tourists
alerted authorities, who arrested the nurse
and the filmmakers upon the completion of
their 'ride'.
Munich policestated: "The trio were spotted
in the carriage with filming equipment. "The
21-year-old suddenly disrobed and produced
a sex toy that she began to use while the
other two filmed her."
The three have been charged with public indecency.

Trouble-prone
oaf John Wayne Bobbitt has been arrested
and charged with assaulting his new wife.
Bobbitt was arrested on Saturday morning
after he was accused of chasing Ms Ferrell,
40, and pushing her to the ground. The 38-year-old,
best known for having his penis cut off
by his unstable wife, filed for divorce
from Joanna Ferrell on Monday following
his detention. It was the third time he'd
been arrested for incidents involving Ferrell.
BobbittØs penis was surgically reattached
after the 1993 attack by his jealous wife
Lorena. He then had his fifteen minutes
of fame, making big-selling porn flicks
Uncut and Frankenpenis. The
latter featured his newly surgically enlarged
penis, an operation which allegedly didn't
work too well and left the cock looking
every bit the monster that most people had
(mistakenly) expected it to be after it
was severed. He then tried his hand at stand-up,
worked as a chauffeur for Nevada's Bunny
Ranch brothel, and conducted marriages in
Vegas for a while before finally pissing
away all his earnings and public interest
in him.
Bobbitt was previously convicted in February
2003 of battery involving Ferrell, prompting
a judge to revoke probation and sentence
Bobbitt to prison for his role in a 1999
theft at a store in northern Nevada.

Vietnamese Police raided a Ho Chi Minh City
restaurant on thursday for illegally offering
karaoke services and caught several girls
in 'various stages of nudity' stripping in
front of male patrons.
In Huong Nguyen restaurant on 239 Tran Hung
Dao Street, they caught six waitresses performing
a striptease, with dozens of other girls waiting
for their turns to entertain guests.
A local official said it had been fined six
times before for various violations including
organization of prostitution.

As we reported earlier this month, Sutton's
Conservative councillors were outraged when
a local club was granted a license to feature
topless performers. And so they are determined
to stop a planned lapdancing venue from also
opening. Andd they are prepared to break all
the rules to do so.
Equipped with megaphones and trestle tables,
the Conservatives took to Sutton High Street
for three weekends in a row and surveyed nearly
1,000 shoppers on the plans for a new club.
After collating the results, the Tories said
93 per cent of respondents were against a
lap dancing club being allowed in town. But
they didn't say how the respondents were questioned
or selected - we imagine that only those who
would be likely to object were attracted to
the table, and that the results are useless.
What's more, the Liberal Democrats claim the
Tories risk of "fettering their judgement"
when the application comes to committee and
may not be able to vote on the scheme. Councillor
for planning Leslie Coman said the Conservatives
had misunderstood their responsibilities in
the planning process and that all applications
had the right to be heard fairly. She also
questioned whether the council's monitoring
officer would need to look at the Conservatives'
activities to see if they ran the risk of
being excluded from determining the fate of
the application altogether.
To "fetter your judgement" means to have appeared
to have made up your mind about a planning
matter before all sides are heard. A council
which comes to a decision but is shown to
have fettered judgement risks legal proceedings.
Let's hope the club owners do just that should
their application fail.

Public
nudity is allegedly illegal, but not - it
seems - it it is 'art'. Helen Flynn has been
posing in the window of Galway's Bold Art
Gallery as Venus, the Roman Goddess of Love,
since Monday.
For five hours a day, Helen has been standing
still in the gallery window on MerchantØs
Road, 'dressed' (if that's the word) as BotticelliØsfamous
painting of the Birth of Venus.
Last year, she posed as a mermaid in the same
window, as part of the Galway International
Oyster Festival.
Gallery Proprietor Hazel Hendy said she was
so delighted with the success of last yearØs
mermaid window display that she decided to
do it again for the 51st Oyster Festival.
"Last year we pushed the boat out
with mermaids, so this year I thought that
Galway was ready to stretch it further. We
wanted to put the relationship with the Oyster
Festival with something creative and artistic,"
she said.
Performance Artist Helen said "the
feedback is fabulous already. I'm just really
enjoying it. I'm really excited about it.
I'm the only liberated one - everyone out
there is in a box. The audience entertains
me," she told the Galway Independent.
Helen claims her performance will encourage
women to stop worrying about their size. "I've
put on about two stone because I fell in love
and I was going out for dinner every night
of the week. But I think I fairly represent
a Renaissance woman. Bring back the curves!"

A poll has revealed that for many students,
working as strippers, lap-dancers or in other
areas of the sex industry is a favoured way
of making money.
The online poll of 3,000 freshers by internet
insurer Cover4students found that more students
are willing to strip than wait on tables in
a restaurant or work on a Saturday in a shop.
Only bar work and chugging ° street selling
monthly charity donations ° proved more attractive
options.
This suggests that teenagers have a sensible
view of the erotic dancing - namely that it
is a harmless, potentially lucrative way of
making money, and less soul-destroying than
sitting behind a checkout all weekend.
However, there are still plenty of old-school
anti-porn feminists out there in the world
of higher education, willing to spout cliched
nonsense without having the world experience
or knowledge to know what they are talking
about. Leeds University Union's communication
officer Erin McFeely said: "I cannot understand
why women would actually choose to do this
but would surmise it is because they are put
in a position where they have to earn money
to finance their studies. As a union we would
never encourage women to do this. This survey
does not look at why women feel they have
to get a job like this. There are a lot of
negative factors surrounding lap dancing jobs
and we would encourage students with money
problems to contact the union."

After
the devastation of Hurrican Katrina, New Orleans
is taking the first steps back into normality
- with the opening of strip clubs.
Deja Vu, on Bourbon Street, is open for business,
even amongst the wreckage, rotting garbage
and corpses that have been seen across the
world on news reports. The clients are mostly
police officers, National Guard soldiers and
engineering contractors - there are few other
people in the city.
Deja Vu manager Jason Mohney claims that the
club probably lost $350,000 during the three
weeks it was closed following the disaster.
Other venues are also planning to reopen soon,
cementing New Orleans reputation as a liberated
party town.
Meanwhile, the producers of the famous Girls
Gone Wild series - which has often featured
footage from New Orleans' Mardi Gras - is
planning to donate any money made from the
sale of DVD's shot in the city to the relief
fund.

Four women arrested after going topless on
a street in Moravia, New York last month say
they didn't break any laws and want the charges
against them dropped.
The women are charged with exposure. If convicted
of the violation they each face 15 days in
jail and/or a $250 fine.
Defence attorney Charles Marangola said he's
filed a motion to dismiss the case, maintaining
that a 1992 state Court of Appeals decision
allows women to go topless anywhere a man
can.
"This thing should be dismissed outright,"
he said. "But if it isn't and these young
ladies are found guilty at a trial ... if
we have to go to the Court of Appeals, we
will."
Cayuga County Assistant District Attorney
Charles Thomas said his office isn't convinced
that the 1992 ruling gives blanket permission
for women to go topless, although the wording
of the law seems pretty straight-forward.
Carol Clarke, 54, Barbara Crumb, 61, Claudia
Kellersch, 40, and Madeleine McPherson, 40
were arrested on Aug. 11 outside a grocery
store.

One
of the contestants on the hit show The
Apprentice is a former stripper.
Alla Wartenberg, 31, had previously appeared
in court during a murder trial which centered
around the Palomino Club in Las Vegas, where
she worked as a $40 a throw lapdancer under
the names Alla Kosova and Extasy.
The Russian dancer had a "pretty platonic
relationship" with a regular named Robert
Acremant, who paid Wartenberg $500 to $1,500
for an evening of dances and conversation.
That's a lot of dances!
Acremant was later convicted of killing three
people in two botched robberies, allegedly
to get cash to spend on Wartenberg. He was
sentenced to death in both cases and is imprisoned
in Oregon.

Officials in Kokomo, Indiana are considering
whether a strip club near a clinic operated
by a Roman Catholic order violates a city
ordinance that forbids adult businesses from
locating within 500 feet of a place of worship.
St. Joseph Hospital's MedOne have asked the
city to stop topless dancing at the neighbouring
Ultimate Place 2 B.
Sister Catherine Kelly said that the order's
clinics are considered ministries. By whom,
she didn't elaborate.
"MedOne is part of the Roman Catholic identity
of St. Joseph Hospital, so when you speak
about a church, you can define it in many
ways," Kelly said. "A church can be
a building, and it can also be an organization
of ministries that provide for the spiritual
well-being of people ... for me the whole
sense of 'church' is much broader than the
four walls in which you go to worship."
Which sounds like an excuse to extend the
already dubious law to cover just about everywhere...
The club is owned by Dan Dumoulin Jr., who
also runs three other topless nightclubs in
the city.
Moralising religious nut Mayor Matt McKillip
recently sent an e-mail to area pastors and
residents asking them to pray for Dumoulin.
"I ask all of you and your congregants
to pray for the owner of these establishments,
and for our efforts to keep these establishments
from hurting our quality of life," the
e-mail said. I wonder if he also offered prayers
for gun shop owners?

Birmingham's biggest private landowner wants
to restrict the activities of a lapdancing
club - in one of its own properties.
Spearmint Rhino wants to open and serve alcohol
until 6am seven days a week. Calthorpe Estates,
who owns thevenue, claims this will create
conflict between the club and the "high
quality" Five Ways business district.
Clearly they are unaware of the type of custoimers
lapdancing clubs attract!
The company is powerless to act because a
36-year lease it granted to Spearmint Rhino
in 1990 does not allow the landlord to prevent
the extension of opening hours. So they should
just shut up. But no... instead they are appealing
to Birmingham City Council to refuse Spearmint
Rhino's application to open between 10am and
6am Monday to Sunday.
In a letter to the licensing sub- committee
Calthorpe Estates commercial managers describe
the area of Hagley Road around Spearmint Rhino
as a "vomit-stained crime black spot".
Which makes it sound pretty down-market to
begin with.
A spokesman for Spearmint Rhino said an original
application to remain open 24 hours a day
had already been scaled back to 10am-6am.
It was the club's intention not to allow people
to be admitted after 4am.

Honey
Bruce Friedman, former wife of legendary comedian
Lenny Bruce, has died aged 78.
The former stripper and nightclub performer
died on Monday in Honolulu after a long illness.
Born Harriett Jolliff, she grew up in Detroit,
before running away from home as a teenager.

where she developed a taste for show business
and and became an exotic dancer. . Honey was
stripping under the name 'Hot Honey Harlowe'
when she and Bruce met in Baltimore. They
married in 1951.
The pair later performed parodies of movies
like The Bride of Frankenstein together
on stage They had a daughter, Kitty, but the
marriage ended in 1957 under the strain of
their joint heroin addiction. Bruce died in

Last
month, we reported that Olga Rodioniva, model
and wife of a Russian tycoon, was suing the
Sunday Times for libel after they reported
that she was to star in a soft porn film.
At the time, we were doubtful that the case
would succeed, given that Rodioniva had modelled
for the likes of Penthouse... but we were
wrong.
The Sunday Times has printed the following:
Corrections - Olga Rodionova: Our article
(World News, July 31) wrongly stated that
Olga Rodionova was to star in a ™soft porn
filmÓ. In fact Lift, which is due be
released next year, is a thriller, directed
by a well known Russian.
And apparently the newspaper will have to
pay out for their claim too, presumably as
an out-of-court settlement.
Hope that clears everything up.

A federal judge has ruled that Seattle must
end its moratorium on licenses for new strip
clubs.
U.S. District Judge James Robart condemned
the city authorities for continually extending
the moratorium first adopted in 1988 on the
grounds that it had not yet adopted a new
land-use policy, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer
reported.
"The city's unhampered authority to continue
extending the moratorium and delaying the
implementation of new regulations evidences
its unbridled discretion to limit erotic dancing,
a protected form of free speech," Robart
said.
The city has decided against appealing the
ruling, and instead will fight adult entertainment
clubs by pushing for a ban on lap dancing
aimed at cutting their profits. A proposed
ordinance that would require dancers to remain
at least 4 feet away from their customers
has many strippers up in arms because they
fear lower tips.

Pompous holiday-makers have reacted with hilarious
horror at the prospect of lapdancing coming
to the sleepy town where they like to vacation.
Heacham's Silver Sands Beach Club has been
given persmission to hold 'adult entertainment'
nights with kissagrams, pole-dancers and strippers.
But caravan owners who don't actually live
locally but like to holiday near the venue
are 'distraught'.
"It will attract all the wrong people,
this is not Thailand," said one dementedly
misguided woman, who understandably chose
to remain anonymous.
Moaners from the Putting Green Caravan Park
claim families on holiday will be disturbed
by noise from the club and the "unruly"
behaviour of revellers. One caravan owner
said: "Extension of opening hours will
only encourage the yob culture and fighting
that inevitably go hand-in-hand." My own
experience of caravan sites is that they attract
enough yobs, oafs and chavs without outside
help. Notably, no actual residents of Heacham
saw fit to object to the club's plans.
North-West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham said
the plans would drag Heacham downmarket -
presumably he believes it currently has a
global reputation to uphold.
"It is a very small-scale resort with a
very established clientele and I wouldn't
imagine there would be the demand for this
sort of adult entertainment," he said
to the local paper. Of course, if there is
no demand, he has little to worry about as
the club would rapidly drop all such performances
once they failed to make money.
The
Club management said: "It is no more than
any other pub is doing. The pole-dancing pole
is just there for the customers to dance round
at night (!!!). It's just for the craic."
However, on their licensing application the
club has asked for permission to host 'semi-nude
dancing' and 'lap-dancing' nights - presumably
not performed by tipsy customers. The adult
evenings would be held irregularly, and Silver
Sands has promised to put up signs outside
the venue to warn visitors if they are on.
The club will specify 'adults only' in all
advertising of the events.

Nudity
is completely harmless, but some people seem
to still feel that they have the right to
impose their own moral standards on the rest
of us... and a large number of them seem to
be ploce officers, magistrates and politicians.
Naked Rambler Steven Gough has been jailed
for two weeks after being found guilty of
breach of the peace in Midlothian. He was
convicted of exposing himself, causing fear
and alarm and distracting drivers on the A701
on 1 September.
Just who is caused 'fear and alarm' by the
sight of a naked man? Well, 21 year old postman
William Lister for one. Clearly a man who
has led a sheltered life, Lister claimed to
have been "alarmed and shocked"
by Gough and his girlfriend Melanie Roberts
walking naked. And the local Sheriff clearly
agreed.
Sheriff Kenneth MacIver told him: "I have
no doubt in my mind that walking naked through
a Scottish town and along a busy road is not
something which the Scottish public should
be expected to deal with." He claimed
- without any supporting evidence - that people
were likely to be "upset, alarmed or offended"
by public nudity.
More likely amused, we'd say... unless they
were Scottish coppers, one of whom told the
court that he personally found nudity "distasteful".
A case for the psychiatrists, we suspect -
presumably he undresses in the dark and showers
in his underwear.

Bar girls from Mumbai (aka Bombay) , put out
of work by Home Minister R R Patil's controversial
ban on dance bars, have found new employment
in faraway Bihar - as strippers.
With the state set for elections for the second
time in a year, politicians have been organising
strip shows to lure voters. Entire villages
are treated to a night of naked, alcohol-fuelled
revelry.
"Many candidates use strip shows to
keep voters happy and the morale of party
workers high," said a former intelligence
official. Some politicians also rent guesthouses
to serve as makeshift brothels. Sounds the
ideal way for British politicians to arrest
declining vote counts too!
Show promoter Shravan Paswan, said, "I
have around 230 bar dancers. They are so desperate
to make money that they are willing to do
all kinds of shows. I have personally arranged
for 125 dancers from bars in Mumbai, Pune
and Dhule for a local political party that
organises strip shows to lure voters."
They usually begin with girls dancing to hit
Bollywood tracks, after which local music
is played and the girls begin to strip.

San
Antonio's controversial Human Display Law,
finally took effect today after three yearsof
legal challenges. But even as the law takes
effect, the city and the six largest topless
clubs still can't agree over their interpretation
of the law.
Undre the new rules, topless dancers cannot
come within three feet of customers, effectively
banning lap dancing, which is how the strippers
- who pay the clubs to work there - make their
money.
The law also specifies that 'semi nude' dancers
must pay a fee to the city and wear a badge,
specifies lighting at the clubs, and controls
whether or not private rooms can be operated.
Strip club attorney Jim DeeGear says that
by putting on nipple pasties, dancers are
no longer be 'semi nude' and therefore not
covered by the new law. The question will
be whether the city agrees.
DeeGear
says the law is clear. "If the nipple and
the (area around the nipple) are exposed,
you are considered semi nude and covered by
this law. If they are not exposed, it is clear
that you are not semi nude and are not covered
by the law."
However, Assistant City Attorney Martha Sepeda
disagrees. She says full tops, and not just
'pasties' will be needed to comply with the
law. But she fails to explain just how much
cleavage CAN be shown before it is classed
as 'semi-nudity'. Are string bikini's okay?
See-through, low-cut bras? How full does a
'full top' need to be? It all sounds a mess
to us.
Still, Sepeda
vows that the city will vigorously enforce
the new law and will charge those who violate
it.
DeeGear says his clients are committed to
following the law. "They're unhappy with
the way that things have changed, but they
have resigned themselves to the fact that
they want peace."

Chester is to finally get its first lapdancing
venue.
The
Platinum Lounge will host the club after a
£250,000 project to 'sympathetically' refurbish
the interior of the listed building is completed,
with the opening scheduled for the beginning
of November.
Businessman Philip Archer-Jones, who is behind
the venture, said: "I think Chester
is ready for it. Every major city or town
has got one. When a table top dancing club
opened in an upstairs room of a Chester pub
five years ago there was a furore. But when
plans for Platinum Lounge were unveiled earlier
this year the reaction was low key. Even residents
who live near the venue were indifferent.
" I think it's becoming more acceptable
because it's gone mainstream. It's only the
perception in some people's minds that makes
them think it's seedy. I was talking to a
group of solicitors the other week and they
said 'It's just a bit of fun'."
Some would-be performers have already dropped
off their CVs at the Bridge Street Row premises,
and male dancers have not been ruled out for
the future.
Nigel Woodhouse, 37, who will manage the venue,
said: "Lots of students are involved
in the occupation to get them through three
years of college. They are working towards
degrees but are prepared to work in this environment
because they know it is properly run."
The business is expected to employ a total
of about 20 staff. Councillors have slapped
on no less than 32 conditions at the premises,
which include: no private performances taking
place of an adult nature and no audience participation.

Self-styled 'pro-family activists' are beiong
sued after their hate-filled protests against
a local Oregon strip club.
The owner and a patron of Sunny Valley's Club
71 have brought lawsuits claiming "severe
emotional distress" against 14 demonstrators
who opposed the establishment. The defendants
picketed outside the nightclub with signs
and also took photographs of faces and license
plates, then posted the photos on an Internet
website. It was this act of harrassment that
prompted the lawsuits.
The American Family Association Center for
Law & Policy - a right-wing, pro-religion
group - is representing the defendants. And
according to AFA Law Center chief counsel
Steve Crampton, everything his clients did
was within their constitutionally protected
rights, including "holding their signs, talking
to the people going in, trying to plead with
them not to frequent this business," and even
"taking some of the photos, posting them on
a website, which they have every right to
do."
Harrassment is illegal though, and this sounds
very much like that to us.

Morecambe could soon have pole dancing, following
the opening of a new bar.
The Office has initially opened as an internet
cafe/wine bar on its lower floor, but the
owners hope to eventually refurbish the upstairs
floor into a lapdancing club.
A spokesperson for Kirklands Entertainment
said: "Due to the new licensing laws coming,
in we can't open it for pole dancing until
November. Then, the plan is for the girls
to dance around a pole on a fixed stage, like
you see in some American movies. Six months
afterwards, if there's no trouble and the
police are happy, we may apply for a licence
for actual lap dancing. We are also exploring
another option to possibly open the second
floor as an Italian restaurant, instead of
the pole dancing."
Nice to see a coherent business plan in operation.
Future plans for the pub may include a tapas
food menu, cocktails and live jazz music.

Porn
starlet Mary Carey - still best known for
once running for California governor - agreed
to behave for a year or face jail after
allegedly touching herself 'inappropriately'
during a performance at a strip club.
Carey was arrested last year for violating
Lakewood city's cabaret ordinance. This
week, she entered a plea agreement to two
misdemeanors for the alleged act.
"Um, well, I thought it was very nice
of them to, you know, let me have a year
to be good," she mumbled after the hearing.
"But it's kind of scary because if I
mess up it's one year and seven months in
jail. I don't think I could survive that."
Outside the courtroom she attacked the state's
strip club laws and said she's now thinking
about moving to Washington so she can run
for governor with the platform of promoting
more liberal adult entertainment laws.

Latvia's Riga airport is to ban erotic advertising
posters after a complaint from the countryØs
prudish transport minister, who believes
that they convey the wrong image of the
Baltic state to visitors.
Large posters advertising a city centre
striptease club, and featuring 'scantily-clad'
women, have been legally on display for
over two years.
An airport official
claimed that there had also been complaints
from anally retentive members of the public,
who said the adverts were "morally
insulting".

This story managed to somehow slip past
us last week, but better late than never...
A San Diego stripper took it rather personally
when a customer declined a private dance,
pulling out a knife and stabbing him.
24 year old Lawanda Dixon stabbed Melik
Jordan at Dream Girls Cabaret last Wednesday
after asking if he wanted a lap dance. Jordan
declined and an argument ensued. Dixon then
pulled a knife from her bag and stabbed
the unfortunate punter.
Jordan was treated for his injuries - which
were not life-threatening - in hospital
and later released. Dixon faces charges
of assault with a deadly weapon and narcotic
possession after methamphetamine was found
in her bag.

Hollywood
burlesque troupe
the Pussycat Dolls look set to take the number
one spot in the UK singles chart this weekend,
with their debut single Don't Cha comfortably
outselling all rivals.
The Pussycat Dolls were formed in 1995 as
a revolving-door lineup of dancers and passing
celebs in need of an ego boost, including
Carmen Electra, Christina Aguilera, Christina
Applegate, Brittany Murphy, Gwen Stefani,
Charlize Theron, Drew Barrymore, Nikka Costa,
Cameron Diaz, Paris Hilton, Scarlett Johansson,
Lucy Liu, Madonna, Demi Moore, Pink, and Jessica
Simpson amongst others.
Inevitably, none of these stars appear on
the record. Instead, the line-up is Carmit
Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody
Thornton, Kimberly Wyatt and lead singer Nicole
Kea, formerly a Reality TV cast-off. Don't
Cha was reportedly originally recorded
by singer Tori Alamaze.
Inevitably, the single is the most godawful
sub RnB/dance crap you could imagine, it's
alleged female empowerment message somehow
failing to come through in the lyrics ("Don't
cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?Don't
cha wish your girlfriend was a freak like
me?Don't cha wish your girlfriend was raw
like me?Don't cha wish your girlfriend was
fun like me?Don't cha? Don't cha?...")
and will - depressingly - no doubt have pole
dancers throughout Britain listlessly grinding
away to it nightly.

Striporama
is looking for UK based performers - experienced
or otherwise - for our planned video productions.
We're aiming to shoot a series of striptease/glamour/burlesque
movies, inspired by 1950's and 60's girlie
loops (think Bettie Page shorts), but with
a modern twist. They won't feature hardcore
sex, but nudity WILL be required, and some
will feature fetish imagery.
We're especially keen to hear from rock, punk
and goth chicks, with tattoos and piercings
being more than welcome.
Stage
performers who want their shows captured for
posterity should also get in touch.
Bear in mind we're working on a VERY low budget,
so those of you motivated by money should
perhaps look elsewhere. But if you want to
be involved in cutting edge, alternative erotica,
this is your chance!
Email us here
- and please enclose JPEG's if possible.

As
most of you based in the UK will be aware,
the government are considering making possession
of 'violent' pornography an offence. Currently,
possession of obscene material is not illegal,
but following a campaign by the family of
murder victim Jane Longhurst - who's killer
was supposedly 'addicted' to extreme porn
sites - the Home Office are planning to put
violent porn on the same level as child porn
- depaite the lack of evidence showing that
it causes anti-cosial behaviour or that anyone
is actually hurt or forced into making it.
Obviouly, we oppose this: not only will it
set a bad precedent which could easily be
extended to any other aspect of adult entertainment
- the new law would already encompass bestiality
- but the loose definition of 'violent porn'
would mean that people could be jailed for
owning anything from The Story of O
upwards. It's also a horribly condesending
law which assumes that no-one can consent
to appearing in SM movies or photosets, branding
all models as Victims.
So far, the press and public response to this
has not been as enthusiastic as the government
might have expected, but they have the tabloid
press and TV on their side. Their is a public
consultation paper on the proposal. We urge
every Striporama reader to read it and resond,
telling them exactly why the idea is so bad.
Please make reasoned, polite arguments though!
You can download the PDF document here.

Farmers web site is offering full coverage

Nottingham
stripper Cheryl Marks is about to join 155
women who are hoping to break the world women's
skydiving formation record.
The 24 year old pole dancer, who works at
Senoritas, has already taken part in 330 skydives
in the last four years.
Last year she was among 60 women who created
a British record when they skydived 14,000
feet above Nottingham.
The attempt to break the world record of 121
people free falling in formation takes place
in California between September 26 and October
1.
She told the Nottingham Evening Post:
"I am going to be the least experienced
of all of the people taking part in this jump.
Since I did my first jump for charity I have
been hooked. I get a huge buzz from doing
it and enjoy the challenge. I am quite light
so I will be one of the last people to jump
and know where I will be going because we
are in different coloured teams and all have
different numbers. The jump will take place
over several days, so we will have quite a
few attempts at breaking the record. The thought
of breaking the world record is really exciting.I
am hoping that everything goes smoothly."
Cheryl must raise £1,500 in sponsorship in
addition to the £1,000 she has already collected
